What is Sleep Apnea?

A potentially life-threating medical disorder that affects the way you sleep, causing abnormal breathing, and may even stop your body’s breathing completely. The muscle in the back of your throat relax during sleep, blocking your airway and often causing loud snoring.

Some of the symptoms are vague and may seem completely unrelated, which is why it important to see a healthcare professional for diagnosis and treatment recommendations. Some signs of sleep apnea include:

Unfortunately, only a minority of sleep apnea sufferers have been diagnosed. We are working to change that in our community.
